The Diabetic Platelet

چکیده

Patients with Diabetes Mellitus (DM) have accelerated atherosclerosis, which is the main essential factor contributing to high risk of atherothrombotic events in these patients. Atherothrombotic complications are principal cause morbidity and mortality patients DM. Both atherosclerosis increased thrombotic vascular may result from dyslipidaemia, endothelial dysfunction, platelet hyperreactivity, an impaired fibrinolytic balance, abnormal blood flow. Platelets DM characterised by dysregulation several signalling pathways causing adhesion, activation aggregation. Platelet function complicated mechanisms, such as hyperglycaemia, insulin deficiency resistance, associated metabolic conditions, cellular abnormalities. The present manuscript purposes provide a review on up-to-date status data abnormalities that characterise

Will blocking the platelet save the diabetic?

Diabetic patients with atherosclerotic heart disease are more likely to develop complications, whether treated medically, surgically, or with interventional techniques. Among the risks diabetics face is an apparent increase in restenosis after coronary stenting. This issue is addressed in this issue of Circulation by Marso et al.1 They suggest that although use of the IIb/IIIa antibody fragment...

Platelet Markers Correlate with Glycemic Indices in Diabetic, but Not Diabetic-Myelodysplastic Patients with Normal Platelet Count

BACKGROUND Altered thrombocyte morphology and function have been reported in patients with diabetes mellitus (DM) type 2. The aim of the present study was to determine the associations between platelet morphology markers and hemoglobin A1C (HbA(1c)), fasting glucose (FG), hypertension and coronary heart disease (CHD) in patients with myelodysplastic syndromes (MDS) and DM, in patients with DM a...

Reduction of CTRP9, a novel anti-platelet adipokine, contributes to abnormal platelet activity in diabetic animals

Platelet hyper-reactivity is a crucial cause of accelerated atherosclerosis increasing risk of thrombotic vascular events in diabetic patients. The mechanisms leading to abnormal platelet activity during diabetes are complex and not fully defined. The current study attempted to clarify the role of CTRP9, a novel adiponectin paralog, in enhanced platelet activity and determined whether CTRP9 may...

Studies O F Platelet Aggregation in Diabetic Coma

Previous studies have shown that diabetics may have enhanced platelet aggregation in response to adenosine diphosphate (ADP) (Colwell, 1973, Excerpta Medica I.C.S. 175,383 ; Chambers, 1975, Federation Proceedings, 34,481) and also enhanced platelet adhesiveness to foreign surfaces. It has been suggested that both long-term complications, e.g. glomerulosclerosis and retinopathy, and short-term c...

Platelet sodium-hydrogen antiport in obese and diabetic black women.

In this investigation we correlated platelet Na-H antiport parameters with blood pressure and serum lipids in a sample population of non-insulin-dependent diabetic obese, nondiabetic obese, and nondiabetic nonobese black women. Parameters of the Na-H antiport were examined in aspirin-treated platelets. These parameters were not altered in resting or in thrombin-stimulated platelets of diabetic ...
